The RAVPower Power Bank is popularly known as an External Battery.  This is the most useful backup battery for recharging all of your devices on the go.  Since the age of Pokémon Go, mobile applications have become bigger and demand more power.  In return, our mobile devices are being drain of life in record breaking time.

This battery is very easy to use.  You don’t have to fiddle with on off switches.  Just plug in a mobile device and it automatically turns on and starts charging.  When your device is done charging just unplug it, but regardless, it will stop charging and shut itself off.

How Many Charges?

The RAVPower Power Bank comes in at a hefty 16750 mAh.   One of the highest external battery capacities currently on the market.  It can recharge my iPhone 6 battery about 6 times.  If you have the iPhone 6 plus or a Samsung Note you will probably only get about 4 charges.  The batteries on bigger device are rated at around 3000 mAh’s while smaller phones need about 2000 mAh’s per charge.

RAVPower Charging Speed

This RAVPower External Battery comes equipped with 2 USB port options.  One USB port is rated at a maximum 2.1 amp output and the other 2.4 amp output.  In general most of the time only a tablet will benefit from the full 2.4 amp output option.  All other devices usually require 2.1 amps or less for the fastest recharge.  Unlike some external batteries, this one can actually handle 4.5 amps all at once.  So you can use both USB Ports at maximum speed simultaneously.

Power Banks with some type of intelligent charging are the best ones to look out for.  This particular model comes with iSmart which is RAVPower’s smart charging technology.  It means you won’t have to worry about punching too much juice through your mobile device.  The iSmart technology will limit the amp output to your device giving it only what it can handle to efficiently charge at the device’s maximum speed.

Buttons & Lights

On the base of the RAVPower Power Bank is a strip of four LED lights that allow you to see the current power remaining inside the battery.  There is one button next to the LED lights, once pressed it will light up in the amount, indicating 25%, 50%, 75%, or 100% life.  When you plug it in to charge it will also light up with one light blinking to show you the percentage area it’s currently working to restore.  If you hold down the button for 2 seconds it powers on a built in flash light which isn’t completely useless.  Its actually quite bright!

Design & Circuitry

RAVPower battery packs are known for using high quality parts.  As we searched comparable products, the dimensions on this battery pack are about an inch less in length and slightly smaller in thickness and width.  They did a good job packing everything in nice and tight, and the craftsmanship feels solid.

RAVPower Power Bank Thoughts

It would have been more appealing to have a number display with more accurate numbers indicating remaining charge left on the Power Bank.  While other devices do come with this feature it wasn’t a big deal for us.

A more important issue for us is the quality.  Some back up batteries while rated in high capacity do not deliver the amount of charges as advertised.  It makes us wonder what kind of batteries there actually putting inside their product.  While it can be hard to know, we have tested this one and it works.
